A grant from the San Juan Division is helping assure access to emergency services for residents on a nearby Navaho Indian reservation. The division donated 15 global positioning system units to Career Prep High School in Shiprock, whose students are utilizing the units to plot and record the locations of remote homes, hogans, sheep camps and other sites. They are also coaching residents on GPS capabilities. Should an emergency arise, residents can now provide first responders with accurate locations for otherwise hard-to-find facilities.
