API's E&P Onshore Operations Safety WorkSafe program is now available!
Most studies show that 80% of industry training requirements overlap by 80%. Using the same process API uses to develop consensus-based standards, API has developed a new program that allows operators to make sure their workers and contractors have been trained to industry safety standards. Workers and contractors who participate may gain a competitive edge. Operators who use the program can reduce their on-site training time - focusing on important site and company specific safety issues, and increasing available work time.
The E&P Onshore Operations Safety Program provides training on key safety issues found at onshore job sites and includes an examination covering industry safety practices.

API WorkSafe is a great way for operators and service station owners to identify those individuals who have awareness of key safety issues and procedures.
A voluntary program, API WorkSafe was developed to address industry concerns that such variations can actually hinder their goal of an accident-free work environment.
For each API WorkSafe program, the secure online program includes a body of knowledge, training modules, and a qualification exam. Applicants who pass the exam will receive a Safety Key wallet card with a unique personal identification code. Operators and station owners can then verify the code online here
or by telephone at 202-371-1043.
API WorkSafe is extremely affordable as well.
Contractors and employees can select from three different items available on the site: a PDF of the handbook or recommended practice, the online Training Module, or the online Qualification Exam. Items can be purchased individually or in any combination - usually for less than $25.
The 14 Training Modules available for the E&P Onshore Operations Safety Program are:
- Individual Safety
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Tool Selection
- Hot Work
- Working at Heights
- Tagging and Flagging
- Confined Spaces
- Excavation and Trenching
- Management of Change
- Driving Safety
- Rigging, Hoisting and Lifting
- Specific Safety Programs
