API’s Motor Oil Matters (MOM) Program helps oil change locations meet new motor oil labeling guidelines. The National Conference on Weights and Measures (NCWM) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) recently published guidelines that would require oil change locations to provide information consumers need to make informed decisions on motor oil. MOM can help oil change locations meet the new guidelines.
API has modified the licensing and renewal process for the Engine Oil Licensing and Certification System (EOLCS) to place it on a calendar year basis and make it consistent with API’s other certification programs. This new process is effective immediately.
Effective for 2013 renewals (licenses that expire after December 31, 2012), the volume-of-sale royalty fee for the API Engine Oil Licensing and Certification System (EOLCS) will be increased.
