Devon NULITES Youth Leadership Program

In 2007, Devon partnered with the Urban League of Greater Oklahoma City to launch the Devon NULITES (National Urban League Incentives to Excel and Succeed) youth leadership program. This program, targeted toward high school students in the African American community, encourages the students to promote and maintain high standards of well being and places a great deal of importance on education, character and leadership qualities.

The seven guiding principles of the Devon NULITES are:

• STRIVE for excellence at home, school and in my community
• WORK within my neighborhood to further its development
• RESPECT my mind and body as well as the mind and body of others
• CELEBRATE my heritage and culture as well as those of others
• CREATE a better future for my family, other people and myself
• CARE for the world’s people and environment
• PROMOTE a universal spirit of cooperation and peace

Devon plays an active role in the program and our employees work side by side in the community with the Devon NULITES. This provides an opportunity for our employees to serve as role models and share with the Devon NULITES the importance of giving back to the community. Friendships are formed as our employees are shaping the minds of tomorrow’s leaders.
