Safety for Seals

Since 1999, ExxonMobil has sponsored fur seal tracking research, which utilizes the latest in satellite-tracking technology. This has significantly increased understanding of the feeding and breeding habits of this protected species. In Australia, fur seals have been using ExxonMobil's offshore platforms in Bass Strait as resting places. Platform operations are structured to ensure seal safety. The seal research, which is conducted by Phillip Island Nature Parks, has provided valuable data on the foraging and diving habits of Australian Fur Seals.
