“America is leading the world in oil and natural gas production while at the same time leading the world in reducing carbon emissions largely due to the increased use of natural gas,” said Gerard. “In Ohio, carbon dioxide emissions from electric power generation are down over 25 percent due in part to clean-burning natural gas. Increased production and a cleaner environment are not mutually exclusive as some have suggested. Massive investments by our nation’s world-class refiners in cleaner gasoline have improved air quality adding to America’s global energy leadership.”
API is the only national trade association representing all facets of the oil and natural gas industry, which supports 9.8 million U.S. jobs and 8 percent of the U.S. economy. API’s more than 650 members include large integrated companies, as well as exploration and production, refining, marketing, pipeline, and marine businesses, and service and supply firms. They provide most of the nation’s energy and are backed by a growing grassroots movement of more than 30 million Americans.
