John Wagner
John Wagner is the Vice President and Deputy General Counsel with the American Petroleum Institute (API). Mr. Wagner supervises API’s legal advocacy and has worked on a wide variety of regulatory and legislative issues in environmental law, natural resource law, and international trade. In addition, Mr. Wagner has diverse corporate counseling experience in a wide variety of issues faced by nonprofit organizations, including employee benefits, worker classification, nonprofit taxation, state and federal lobbying restrictions, and antitrust. Prior to working at API, Mr. Wagner was an associate at Sims, Walker, & Steinfeld, P.C., specializing in litigation and transportation.
Mr. Wagner received a Juris Doctorate from the George Washington University Law School, and graduated with honors from Colgate University.
