API Statement on Senate Passage of PIPES Act

WASHINGTON, August 6, 2020 – The American Petroleum Institute (API) released the following statement today in response to the bipartisan Senate passage of the Pipelines and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) Reauthorization bill, or the PIPES Act (S. 2299).
“The PIPES Act takes important steps to make pipelines safer for surrounding communities and the environment, and we’re pleased this bipartisan group of Senators recognized its importance and worked to ensure it moved forward,” said Vice President of Midstream & Industry Operations Robin Rorick. “We’re hopeful the House can pass bipartisan legislation quickly so operators can continue to safely, reliably and affordably transport the natural gas and oil that Americans rely on every day.”
