API Statement on U.S.-EU Cooperation on Energy Security

WASHINGTON, January 28, 2022 – The American Petroleum Institute (API) issued the following statement from Vice President of Natural Gas Markets Dustin Meyer in response to an announcement by President Biden and European Commission President Ursula von der Leye on U.S.-EU cooperation on energy security.
“We welcome the U.S. and EU engagement on European energy security and the recognition of the critical role U.S. LNG can play in ensuring our allies have access to a stable supply of reliable and affordable energy. Our industry is prepared to help the EU meet its energy it needs amidst rising geopolitical tensions. Beyond the immediate crisis, we encourage the U.S. and EU to consider the long-term role natural gas can play in achieving shared energy security and decarbonization goals.”
