WASHINGTON, September 20, 2024 – The American Petroleum Institute (API) today released the following statement from Executive Vice President and Chief Advocacy Officer Amanda Eversole applauding the U.S. House of Representatives for protecting American consumers by passing a resolution to prevent EPA’s light- and medium-duty tailpipe emissions rule from being implemented.

“EPA exceeded its authority by imposing a vehicle mandate that takes choices away from American consumers. Today’s House vote is an important first step to restore the ability of all Americans to select the car or truck that best fits their budget and lifestyle. We thank Rep. James for his leadership in rolling back this extreme mandate that is both out of step with what consumers want and makes the U.S. more dependent on foreign suppliers. We urge the Senate to consider this resolution as soon as possible.”
