API Statement on Confirmation of Doug Burgum as Interior Secretary

WASHINGTON, January 30, 2025 – American Petroleum Institute (API) President and CEO Mike Sommers issued the following statement on the Senate’s confirmation of former Governor Doug Burgum to lead the U.S. Department of the Interior.
“As Governor of a top production state, Secretary Doug Burgum has long been a champion for American energy leadership. We look forward to working with him to implement a pro-American energy approach to federal leasing, starting with removing barriers to development on federal lands and waters and developing a new five-year offshore program.”
