RP 2D Crane, Rigger and Operator Training
API provides training for personnel seeking qualification as an offshore crane operator, inspector or rigger on the safe operation and maintenance of offshore cranes to promote high levels of safety and environmental protection in offshore operations in the natural gas and oil industry.
For those pursuing qualifications to operate cranes, conduct conformance inspection of cranes or attach and detach loads for crane lifts, these courses directly address the training requirements and recommendations set forth in API Recommended Practice (RP) 2D-2, Training for Offshore Pedestal-Mounted Crane Riggers, Operators, and Inspectors, 1st Edition, which acts as a companion to API RP 2D, Operation and Maintenance of Offshore Cranes, 7th Edition, and API Specification 2C, Offshore Pedestal-mounted Cranes, 8th Edition.
Crane operation, inspection and rigging courses approved by API must demonstrate compliance with the requirements of 2D training as outlined in API RP 2D-2.
