API Recommended Practice 2001, 10th Edition
The 10th edition of API’s Fire Protection in Refineries, builds on industry experience gained over seven decades and includes: important revisions on hazard analysis; new ways to improve the design of refineries to help prevent fires; and, new information on managing the potential environmental impact of firefighting foams and marine firefighting. API convened experts across the natural gas and oil industry, and collaborated with important stakeholders, including the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the United States Coast Guard on important updates made to this safety standard.
API’s Fire Protection in Refineries, First Edition, appeared in 1933 as the beginning of fire safety guidance series for the “downstream” segment.
Recommended Practice 15WT
API Recommended Practice 15WT, Operations for Layflat Hose in Oilfield Water Applications has been published to drive safety and environmental protection for those operations which use layflat hoses. The new recommended practice addresses the safe use of hoses at upstream operations and ensures operators are using equipment that can maintain integrity when transporting water. RP 15WT also addresses risk management evaluations, use of integrity management devices, storage, and more.
API Standard 2510, 9th Ed.
API Standard 2510, 9th Edition, Design and Construction of LPG Installations covers the design, construction, and location of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) storage installations and handling facilities. Revisions to API 2510 help address the safety of LPG storage installations by employing good engineering practices during both the design and construction of these facilities and addresses environmental protection.
